Configured successfully the front panel keys using Xmodmap. The keys are used for the navigation.

Upgrading to Fedora 8

The Media PC system has been upgraded from Fedora 7 to Fedora 8 by using the instructions on YUM Upgrade FAQ. Everything runs just smooth.

Kernel 2.6.23 released

As the latest kernel 2.6.23 fixes the logging issues with the Hiper HMC-2K53A front panel, it is recommended to do the update as soon as possible.

Silent PC Review with Hiper Media Center article

SPCR gives an excellent review of the Hiper HMC-2K53A-H2. It points out the same thing noticed here, that the PSU is quite noisy. However their solution to the noisy power supply is a PicoPSU, which definitely seems worth of trying out, as it drops the noise from 35 dbA to 23 dBA at 1 m.

Also noticeable mention was a new breed of HMC-2K53A-A3, which gives a HDMI connector, the Radeon X1250 and an IR transceiver.

Media PC Fedora 7 upgrade

The operating system has been upgraded from Fedora Core 6 to Fedora 7 by using the instructions on YUM Upgrade FAQ.

The infamous libata update didn’t cause any problem, as the LVM disks were used. However, there were some problems, but none of them were unsolved.

Joined to mythtv-users list

I found a thread about MythTv at Hiper HMC-2K53A chassis. That’s exactly what I’ve done. Now I joined the list, but there seems no any backlog to respond to that exact thread. So, I’m waiting a while if that will continue. If not, I’ll post a new thread.
